The Asia Solidarity Conference | ASIA連帯회의

To commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the Asian Solidarity Conference, the War and Women's Human Rights Museum is holding a special exhibition titled Asia Solidarity Conference - Solidarity of Empathy, Shaking the World. This exhibition highlights the journey women have taken together to resist a world that forces them to live in silence, striving to put an end to military dominance and patriarchy.

The Asian Solidarity Conference, tThe theme of this exhibition=, is a transnational forum where survivors and support groups from the Asia-Pacific region, along with Japanese citizens and activists, have come together to seek solutions for the Japanese military "comfort women" issue. This forum, which originated from addressing the Japanese military "comfort women" issue, has had a significant impact on domestic and international human rights and women’sfeminist movements, as well as and on shaping international human rights norms. It has played a keyvital role in raising awareness about wartime sexual violence and colonial crimes.

The exhibition title, The Asia 連帯(Solidarity) ConferenceAsia Solidarity Conference - Solidarity of Empathy, Shaking the World, is presented in English, Japanese, and Korean to symbolize how the journey of the Asian Solidarity Conference has evolved the Japanese military "comfort women" issue from a matter between Korea (the victimized country) and Japan (the perpetrating country) into a global issueproblem.
